Jim has over 35 years of experience as a lawyer, handling a wide variety of lawsuits and legal problems for clients just like you. Rated a Super Lawyer® by Thompson Reuters and AV Preeminent® by Martindale Hubbell, Jim is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Alabama School of Law. He is admitted to practice before all of the state and federal courts in the state of Alabama, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Jim opened his office after practicing for many years with a large law firm, where he managed complex litigation. He developed considerable experience in the areas of libel and privacy. His volunteer work has included service on the Board of Visitors for the School of Communication of the University of Alabama, as well as participation in the projects of organizations dedicated to the protection of First Amendment rights. He recently served on an Alabama Law Institute committee that drafted Alabama's Right of Publicity Act.
Jim is a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Intellectual Property Law. He is a contributing author to the American Bar Association's The Law of Class Action: Fifty State Survey 2025 and the author of its chapter on class actions in Alabama. This text is additionally published by Thomson Reuters as a supplement to the hard bound volumes of the prestigious Newberg and Rubenstein on Class Actions.
